Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMC Hospital) is located at No. 1 Shuaifu, Wangfujing, Dongcheng District, Beijing. Formerly Peking Union Medical School, it was reconstructed by Lockfellow into Peking Union Medical College Hospital when he bought the Yuwang Residence in 1915. The hospital formally started its operation in 1921. During that time, students of Peking Union Medical College had to take a 3-year pre-medical bachelor's degree at Peking University before getting accepted for 5-year program at Peking Union Medical College to earn an M.D. Degree from New York State University. Today, a large number of doctors at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital are graduates of Medical College of Beijing University. The hospital is technologically strong and competent and has very good background in English. With 80 years of development, today's PUMC is a top integrated hospital in Beijing and nationwide.
