FAQs related to Canadian Immigration Physical
Examination
1. Q: What is the time for physical
examination?
A: The Clinic conducts Canadian Immigration Physical Examination
between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Mondays thru Saturdays, and half
day on Sunday. If there is any special request, other schedule
can be arranged.
2. Q: Where is the physical examination
performed?
A: 3rd Floor, Swissotel, Dongsishitiao Road
3. Q: What do I need to bring
for the physical examination?
A:
1) During the examination, bring 4 copies of 2 x 2 photos for
persons 11 years and older; 2 copies of 2 x 2 photo for persons
less than 5 years old and 3 copies of 2 x 2 photos for persons
5 years or older but less than 11 years old. Please note that
the pictures have to be taken within the last 6 months. If a
photo is already affixed on the physical examination form, then
one less copy can be provided. All photos have to be from the
same negative.
2) Adults need to bring their ID (or passport) for the physical
examination (must be original copy, photocopy is not acceptable).
For children less than 16 years old, household registration
book (or birth certificate, passport) needs to be presented.
3) Please bring your physical examination form (the light green
Section A form issued by the Embassy).
4) Fees: RMB1,450 for adults 15 years and older, Children: RMB500
for children less than 5 years old, RMB850 for children 5 years
or older but less than 11 years old, RMB1,250 for children 11
years old or older but less than 15 years old).
5) If you had any major surgery, you need to bring the certificate
of surgery and pathologic report (except for minor surgeries
such as appendicitis, cesarean, etc.).
4. Q: Do I need to fast before
the physical examination?
A: You may eat before the physical examination. Fasting is not
necessary (except for diabetic).
5. Q: How do I make an appointment
for physical examination?
A: Call number 6553-2288 local 2346, 2345 or 2347 for appointment
1 or 2 days in advance.
6. Q: What is the coverage of
the physical examination?
A: Height, Weight, Eyesight, Hearing, Blood testing (for syphilis,
HIV), urine (normality), Chest X-ray, and seeing doctor.
7. Q: What are the issues that
need attention for the family whose members also need to undergo
physical examination?
A: Family members should have their physical examination together.
Under special circumstances, please remind the physician to
give detailed explanation to nurse on duty in order to avoid
mistakes.
8. Q: How is corrected vision
checked for nearsighted eyes?
A: Nearsighted individuals need to wear eyeglasses to have the
corrected vision checked (requirement: more than 0.5)
9. Q: What are the issues that
need attention for people who have suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis
or have calcified spot on the lungs?
A: People who had suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis or have
calcified spot on the lungs should be the copy of an old chest
x-ray (within 3 months) during the examination. If an old chest
x-ray is not available, you can wait for the subsequent letter
from the embassy within 2 months, and based on instructions
provided, undergo follow-up examination on related items (sputum
culture, thoracic section, etc.).
10. Q: Do women need to avoid
the menstruation period?
A: Yes, please undergo the physical examination 2-3 days after
the menstruation cycle.
11. Q: What are the issues that
need attention by pregnant woman?
A: Woman can receive physical examination during their pregnancy,
and the physician shall decide on whether or not to conduct
Chest x-ray. If x-ray is necessary, a lead apron will be provided
for protection. If you do not want to have chest x-ray for the
sake of the baby, you may provide an affidavit and attach it
to the physical examination documents.
12. Q: For people carrying hepatitis
B virus, do they need to have liver function test?
A: In principle, the blood test does not include liver function
test. However, if recommended by the doctor, a separate examination
related to hepatitis B virus shall be conducted after the physical
examination.
13. Q: How do I check the result
of the physical examination?
A:On the same day evening between 7:00 pm -12:00 am, dial the
voice-operated telephone for the initial result. The initial
result refers to the physical examination that do not need further
check up and all the documents related to the physical examination
can be submitted to the Canadian Immigration Medical Officer.
Whether the physical examination result passes or not for visa
processing depends on the decision of the Canadian Immigration
Medical Officer.
